What is the SIELE exam like?
The SIELE is administered in digital format and is made up of four tests: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction. The duration and difficulty vary depending on the modules selected by the candidate.
-
Reading Comprehension: This section assesses the candidate’s ability to understand written texts in Spanish. Texts may vary in complexity and length, ranging from news articles to academic passages.
-
Listening Comprehension: This part evaluates the candidate’s understanding of spoken Spanish in different accents and contexts. Candidates listen to recordings of conversations, interviews, lectures, or other audio materials and answer related questions.
-
Written Expression and Interaction: This test assesses the candidate’s ability to express themselves in written Spanish. Candidates are asked to write formal or informal texts such as letters, essays, emails, or messages, and to participate in simulated written interactions.
-
Oral Expression and Interaction: This section evaluates the candidate’s ability to communicate verbally in Spanish. It is carried out through recordings where candidates must answer questions, participate in simulated dialogues, or present opinions on specific topics.
Candidates may choose to take one or more modules according to their needs and preferences. Each module is designed to assess a specific set of language skills. Additionally, the exam is aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), meaning that results are presented in internationally recognized proficiency levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.
The exam format is fully digital and administered in authorized testing centers, using specialized equipment and software that ensure an efficient and accurate evaluation experience.
The flexibility in module selection and the variety of skills assessed make SIELE a versatile tool for those who wish to certify their Spanish proficiency in various academic, professional, or personal contexts.
