CSN grants

Swedish students can apply for CSN grants in order to support their study at our Spanish language school in Almuñécar.

What is CSN? The Swedish Board of Student Finance (CSN) approves and sends out Swedish financial aid for studies, which includes both grants and loans to students in Sweden and abroad. That means, that students can apply for grants and loans in case they want to participante in a Spanish language course abroad.

Applying for a grant is easy: just call CSN (+46 771 276 000) and ask them to send you the forms or contact them online here (we recommend calling as you will receive an immediate answer,a written answer online may take longer).  One of these forms is the certificate of admission 5509W. This is a form that has to be filled out by TCLanguages as the educational establishment. CSN usually takes about 3 weeks to process the application from the time they receive it. Therefore, it is advisable to register at least 4- 6 weeks before the starting date of your course. This is the only way to ensure that you will receive the funds in your account before classes begin.

CSN has decided that Swedish Study Support can be awarded for Language Course studies at Tropical Coast Languages in Almuñécar if you fulfill all other requirements for receiving Study Support for studies abroad, which are the following:

  • The education you will be attending must grant the entitlement to student finance
  • It must be possible to take examinations for the courses or the education must lead to a degree.
  • You must be admitted to your course without reservations or conditions.
  • You must have been resident in Sweden for at least two consecutive years in the last five years. There are certain exceptions to this rule, however.
  • For studies within the EU/EEA and Switzerland, you can receive student funding for both on-site and online-studies.
  • You must be below the age of 60. The entitlement to borrow decreases from the year you turn 51.
  • You may not receive certain other benefits at the same time as receiving student grants and loans, such as activity support, sickness benefit and introduction benefit.
  • You can only receive student grants and loans for a limited amount of time. The length of time depends on the education level for which you are studying:
    • University college, university or some other post-secondary education: a maximum of 240 weeks
    • Upper secondary level: a maximum of 80 or 120 weeks, depending on your previous education
  • If you have previously studied with student grants and loans or an education entry grant, you must have satisfied the requirements as regards credits in order to receive new student grants and loans. The requirements regarding credits vary depending on which course you are studying.
  • If you have unpaid annual fees or demands for more than one period, you may not receive student grants and loan. Contact CSN for more information.
