Because of its excellent location, it has a privileged subtropic Meteorologically speaking, Almu\u00f1\u00e9car has no winter, since the average temperature is 18\u00ba\n and it does not fall below 6\u00ba C. The summer is long, 4 months, but mild, with maximum temperatures that do not usually exceed 30\u00ba.\n\nThe sea temperature does not drop in extreme cases of 14 \u00baC.\n\nWe enjoy many sunny days a year, with an annual average of 321 days.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
Although it is a fishing village, Almu\u00f1\u00e9car also bases its\neconomy on the tropical plantations that are given here: custard apples, kiwi,\n\navocado, medlars, etc. All these products and more you can buy them in the public\n\nmarket, 10 minutes from the school. Eating out and drinking outside is an\n\nimportant part of the Spanish way of life.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
The coast of Almu\u00f1ecar has 19km of beautiful beaches and hidden coves with crystalline waters\n\nparticularly recommended for aquatic sports like windsurfing, snorkelling, etc. To discover the\n\necosystem of this part of the Mediterranean, a visit to Almu\u00f1ecar\u2019s Aquarium is a\n\nmust, with over 3000 specimens of around 200 different species of fish and\n\ninvertebrate sea creatures like octopus, jellyfish, lobster, etc.\n\nAs the mountains are so close to the sea, it is also an ideal place for outdoor\n\nactivity sports such as paragliding, walking, etc.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
There is also room for cultural tourism, as Almu\u00f1ecar\u2019s history is marked out by the numerous cultures which settled here; Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and finally Christians have left their traces in numerous archaeological remains all over the town and its coast, some of which canbe visited on our guided tours.\n\nThe Arabic Castle of San Miguel stands out over the town and its kilometres of beach.\n\nThe Archaeological Museum (Roman Cave of the Seven Palaces) and the \u201cClaves de Almu\u00f1ecar\u201d Museum are well worth a visit if you are interested in seeing how the town has changed through the years.\n\nThe Botanical Park \u201cEl Majuelo\u201d, situated near to the beach below the castle, festival de jazz\nprovides the visitor with a shady place to relax and enjoy over 180 types of palm and species of tropical plants. You will be surprised to find the remains of a Roman salting factory within it. The park is also used as an open air auditorium for concerts and festivals: every summer the International Jazz Festival of Almu\u00f1ecar, one of the oldest in Europe attracting numerous internationally renowned artists; Flamenco Festival; etc.\n\nNext to \u201cEl Majuelo\u201d Park is the Ornithological Park \u201cLoro Sexi\u201d (Sexi was the Phoenician name for Almu\u00f1ecar) housing almost 200 different species from pigeons, doves, parrots and peacocks to ostriches.\n\nThe aquatic park \u201cAquatropic\u201d attracts young people and families to its 18,000m\u00b2 of salt water swimming pools and slides and green spaces.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
Almu\u00f1ecar\u2019s Easter Week has been declared Festival of National Tourist Interest for Andaluc\u00eda; the parades through the narrow, hilly streets and alleys of the historic centre will amaze you.\n\nAlmu\u00f1ecar\u2019s own local festival, to Our Lady of the Assumption, in the week of August 15th, ends with a spectacular firework display.\n\nThe night of San Juan is on June 24th; Mediterranean festival par excellence with bonfires burning all night along the sea shore, waiting for dawn on the shortest night of the year.\n\nThe Festival of the mariners celebrates the day of their patron saint, Our Lady of the Carmen, on July 16th.\n\nThe Carnival is fun wherever you go in Almu\u00f1ecar, aimed particularly at the youngest age-group.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
